About this section

Purpose:

Vascular Medicine deals with diseases of arteries, veins, lymphatic and the microcirculation focussing on prevention, diagnosis, therapy and rehabilitation. We have the aim of improving care of patients with vascular disorders and promoting research and education in the field.

Scope:

1. Prevention, risk assessment and risk reduction of vascular disorders
a) Lipids
b) Antiplatelets
c) Hypertension
d) Genes/Growth factors
e) Risk assessment
f) Others (eg. Hct, etc.)

2. Diagnostic tests for diagnosis of vascular disorders and planning and performing intervention
a) Angiography/imaging of vessels
b) Blood tests
c) Microvascular tests
d) Other tests: Ultrasound, Duplex Scanning
e) Assessment of Venous Function (Plethysmography)

3. Specific disorders
a) Occlusive arterial disease/PAD
b) Aneurysms
c) Vascular wounds
d) Diabetic foot including Neuropathic, Neuroischaemic and ischaemic
e) Vasospastic disorders including Raynaud's and HAVS
f) Connective tissue diseases and vasculitis
g) Fibromuscular dysplasia
h) Vascular malformations
i) Lymphatic disorders including Lympheodema & Lipoedema
j) Cellulitis
k) Venous disorders and venous thromboembolism
l) Thrombophilia
