How to borrow and renew

Borrowing

RSM members can borrow up to eight items at any one time. Both books and journals can be borrowed for up to four weeks.

The majority of the Library collection is available to borrow, apart from reference material and items held in our secure stacks. There may also be some loan restrictions to protect fragile or valuable items or to make them more widely available for readers.

Renewing

You can renew items by either contacting the Library team (020 7290 2940) or using ‘Renew My Books’ on the Library Search Hub

Returning

Please return all items by the due date.

If the Library is unstaffed you can return items via the self-service kiosk next to the enquiry desk.

If you wish to return items by post they must be packaged securely and addressed to: RSM Library, 1 Wimpole Street, London, W1G 0AE. We advise you to use recorded delivery.

Overdue loans

Reminders will be sent to you if you have overdue items. If an item is overdue by more than six weeks, you will receive an invoice from the Library for the replacement cost of the item, together with a £20 administration fee. This fee remains payable even if the item is subsequently returned.

Requesting items not at the RSM

An inter-library loan service is available for books and material not held in the RSM’s Library collection. The Library staff will source the majority of requests from the British Library, with material sourced from other institutions as necessary.

A small charge is made for the inter-library loan service, calculated according to the speed of delivery. Prices start from £15.

To request an inter-library loan, contact the Library enquiry desk by emailing library@rsm.ac.uk.

For full details about the charges, view the Library services price list.
