Events

Full refunds for event bookings will be offered for cancellations made in writing up to 48 hours after payment has been received, provided there are at least four working days before the event. After 48 hours refunds will only be offered for fees over £10 and a 15% administration charge will be incurred. No refunds will be offered for cancellations made within four working days of an event.

Places at events are guaranteed on written confirmation. Acceptance of delegates is at the discretion of the meeting organiser. If payment has not been made by the date of the event the organiser reserves the right to refuse admission.

If invoices are requested for delegate fees and payment has not been received by the day of the event, credit card details will be requested on the day. The card will be charged if payment has not been received within five working days.

Concessions such as student or bursary rates are available only to full time students. Proof of eligibility may be requested at any time. Failure to provide proof will result in the delegate being charged the most expensive rate for that event.

Delegate substitutions may be made free of charge up to four days prior to the event. If the substitution is for a different event a 15% administration charge will be incurred. If there is any difference in the event fee extra charges may be incurred.

Special dietary requirements must be requested at least four working days before the event. Delegates requesting alternative catering arrangements on the day will be charged £10 plus the cost of the meal and the meal may be delayed.

If an event is cancelled, the RSM’s liability will be limited to registration fees already paid to the Society for the meeting.

The RSM accepts no legal responsibility for facts stated or opinions expressed during its events. It is the responsibility of individuals to satisfy themselves as to which facts and opinions should be relied on in any way whatsoever.

Membership

After a membership application has been acknowledged by the RSM, the new member will be provided with access to online resources and sent a membership card providing access to Club and Library facilities at the RSM within 10 working days. If immediate access to the RSM building is required the membership team can arrange for access to be provided. Subscription payments made by cheque, debit or credit card will be processed immediately.

Applications which do not meet the relevant membership category criteria will be reviewed by the Membership Committee which meets approximately every eight weeks. Once accepted by the Committee membership will be confirmed.

In accordance with the RSM’s By-Laws (12.8) it is the duty of members to advise the RSM in writing of any change in personal circumstances that could lead to a change in subscription rates. For example notify us if you take maternity or paternity leave, retire, stop work through unemployment or undertake unpaid work overseas.

Cancellation policy

RSM Membership is an annual subscription. If you pay by instalments and decide to cancel your membership at any time during the year you will be required to pay the outstanding balance in full.

Once the RSM has confirmed the start date of your membership and access to membership services you have 14 days in which to cancel. The RSM will make a proportionate charge for up to 14 days membership or deduct this amount from any refund due. If membership is cancelled during the year after full payment is made, no refunds are provided. If during this time you have purchased further RSM services at member rates you will be liable for any difference in the cost of member and non-member charges. 

Data collection

Data is collected for three purposes:

  1. To assess eligibility for membership
  2. To assess the correct category of membership
  3. To allow the RSM to provide the information and services members expect.


The RSM does not sell or lease its membership list and any information received as a result of completing a membership application form will come from the RSM or its agents.

When a meeting is jointly organised with an external partner, delegate data may be passed to the third party unless the delegate opts out by ticking the relevant box on the booking form.

Gift purchases

Your order will normally be despatched within four days of its receipt, although you should allow up to 21 days for delivery.

Every care has been taken to ensure that the description, specification, colour and prices are correct at time of going to press.

The prices quoted are inclusive of Value Added Tax. Postage and packaging prices are included in the price.

If, after placing your order, you decide you would like to cancel it, you have 7 days in which to do so and return the goods in their original packaging and condition. You will be refunded the full value of the goods including the cost of delivery.

force majeure

In the event of any act of God, acts of government, fire, storm, flood, earthquake, explosion, accident, act of war, invasion,  enemy acts, rebellion, insurrection, sabotage, hostilities (whether declared or not), riot, civil war, civil commotion, public demonstration, terrorist act, epidemic and quarantine restriction, tempest or any other circumstances (whether or not of a similar nature to any of the foregoing) beyond the reasonable control of either party (a “Force Majeure Event”), which causes cessation of or substantial interference with the Society’s day-to-day activities,  the Society shall be deemed not to be in breach of any contractual arrangement or otherwise liable to any other party in any manner whatsoever for any failure or delay in performing its obligations thereunder.

These terms and conditions are correct at the time of publication and were updated April 2014  and supersede any previous terms and conditions. The RSM reserves the right to amend them.
