Purpose:

To promote and provide accredited educational study of best practice in the field of Ophthalmology.

Section members:

GPs with a special interest, allied health professionals, e.g. screeners and ophthalmic nurses.

Section council:

Section meetings and conferences are usually organised by members of the Section council, led by the Section President.

The meeting will explore both colour, from understanding the genetics of eye colour, to an appreciation of the evolutionary advantage of colour blindness, and light, used as a treatment (the long-anticipated results from the Cleopatra study) and the potential harm associated with blue light and sunlight

Biomarkers are increasingly used in medicine as indicators of a disease and treatment response. The eye lends itself to providing different biomarkers as structural indicators of pathology. We cover examples of neurological disease biomarkers and include ophthalmic indicators of multiple sclerosis. In addition to uses of OCT, we discuss new and emerging technologies.
