Jointly organised by the Oxford Empathy Programme, delegates will learn about the role and importance of empathy in healthcare from current research, education, policy, practice and patient perspectives.

The Trainees Section’s purpose is to run a full calendar of events aimed at trainees as well as several meetings supporting students and their studies. Meetings cover a variety of activities and opportunities allowing trainees to learn and develop their future careers.

Trainees working in any hospital or primary care specialty.
Submit a 200-word abstract describing an audit project that was undertaken during your training. The abstract should include the objective, methods used and results, discussion topics and conclusion. The applicant must be the main author of the audit project.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to present their abstract as an oral or poster presentation at a Trainee meeting.

Medical students and trainees.
Submit a 500-word outline of your idea for a book proposal. If the idea is shortlisted it will be presented to an expert ‘Dragon’s Den’ panel that will know nothing of the idea on the day and will judge whether they wish to accept or decline the proposal.
The winner will be decided at the event, considering the opinions of the judges and the audience.
