About this section

The purpose of the Dermatology Section is to provide educational events to share knowledge and experience on the management of complex dermatological cases.

Eligibility

Full membership:

  1. Being a Consultant Dermatologist on the Specialist Register for Dermatology in the UK and Ireland OR
  2. By sponsorship of two members of the Dermatology Section for significant contributions to and good standing in dermatology and the profession

Associate membership:

  1. Holding a substantive approved post in Dermatology in the UK supported by two Consultant Dermatologist Members of the RSM OR
  2. Having a registrar training post in dermatology (trainee member)

Associate members need to reapply every four years.

Dermatology Section: Trainee Research Prize

  • First prize: £250
  • All presenters will be awarded up to £150 as a travel grant.

Open to 

All dermatology trainees in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Newly qualified consultants whose research was completed as a trainee in the year before the submission date.

Application guidelines 

Applicants will submit summarising research of no more than 500 words that have been done while they were a dermatology trainee or within 1 year of becoming a consultant. The research can have been submitted to other meetings and can have been published in the year before the submission deadline.

Submissions will be shortlisted and the top 3 will be awarded up to £150 for travel and accommodation to attend the April meeting where the prize will be awarded. Shortlisted candidates will also gain free registration to the meeting. The best paper will win a prize of £250 and will be submitted for consideration for the RSM Wesleyan trainee of the year award.

Dermatology Section: Travel Grant for Trainees  

Prize

  • A grant up to £250 towards attending a dermatology meeting at the RSM

Submission deadline 

Three weeks before relevant meeting 

Open to 

Trainees who are presenting at a dermatology meeting at the RSM, who are usually based at a hospital at least 100 miles from the RSM. 

Application guidelines 

Applicants can be reimbursed for travel, accommodation and registration for the meeting up to £250.
