The Royal Society of Medicine (RSM) has today announced the appointment of Rachel Lambert-Forsyth as its new Chief Executive.
Rachel Lambert-Forsyth
Joining at a pivotal moment for the RSM as it embarks on an exciting new chapter, Rachel will draw upon a wealth of experience in the health and bioscience sector to lead the development of a new strategy for the organisation, focusing on advancing its educational mission, growing its membership, and expanding its impact and influence across the healthcare sector.
Rachel brings broad experience from her current position as Chief Executive of the British Pharmacological Society (BPS), where she led the organisation through the COVID-19 pandemic, securing its financial position and fostering partnerships that celebrate and champion the importance of therapeutic innovation. Under her leadership, BPS moved from a deficit position to growth, increasing key income streams across publishing, commercial sales, partnerships, and grant funding. Rachel also brings a valuable perspective through her extensive experience as a trustee for charities including the RCN Foundation and the Careers Research and Advisory Centre.
Commenting on her appointment, Rachel Lambert-Forsyth said:
“The RSM plays a key role across all aspects of healthcare, bringing together individuals from all disciplines and supporting their professional development through every stage of their career. I’m thrilled to be joining at a time of opportunity, where I can build on these strong foundations to strengthen engagement and help expand access to the RSM.
I look forward to working with the President, Council and staff team to ensure the RSM continues to grow as a vibrant home for learning and connection, where everyone in healthcare feels welcome, supported and empowered to make a meaningful impact.”
Professor Gillian Leng CBE, President of the Royal Society of Medicine, said:
“In our fast-changing world, the RSM’s unique ability to convene healthcare professionals, researchers, innovators and patients places us in a powerful position to influence the future of healthcare. I’m therefore delighted that Rachel is coming on board to help develop a plan for the future. Her vision and impressive leadership track record will be invaluable as we build on our strengths and explore exciting new opportunities for the RSM and its members, partners and collaborators.”
Rachel Lambert-Forsyth will take up the role of RSM Chief Executive in November 2025.
