The webinar will update students on deep vein thrombosis (DVT), the complications involved, and explain the pathophysiology and the influence of the risk factors in the causation of DVT. 

This webinar will help you to be able to formulate an appropriate plan for DVT management. 

This webinar will help you: 

  • Become familiar with the prevalence of DVT, the risk factors and risk stratification, and to be able to recognise the symptoms and signs of DVT 
  • Understand the pathophysiology of DVT and their sequela.
  • Be able to use clinical scoring and investigations in the diagnosis of DVT.
  • Understand the strategy for management.

This webinar is part of The vascular medicine & surgery for undergraduate medical students series. This nine-part webinar series has the primary outcome of improving vascular surgery education within the undergraduate medical curriculum. The topics addressed in the series directly correlates with the GMC outcomes for graduates.

This series will run from April 2021 until January 2022 and will be broadcast monthly on a Monday from 6:00pm.

All webinars in this series are available on-demand to registered delegates for up to 1 year after the live broadcast date.

Speaker's biography

Professor Saroj Das received higher surgical training in Nottingham, Kings College Hospital and at the Royal Brampton Hospital. He received training in endovascular surgery at the Arizona Heart Institute, Phoenix, USA. He was appointed as a senior Lecturer, Consultant Surgeon at the Royal Brampton Hospital and Thrombosis Research Institute. He was awarded a Chair at the Brunel University in 2009 through his research collaboration in carotid diseases, development of endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) devices and research into venous diseases.

 

Professor Saroj Das has published several original papers, has contributed chapters in textbooks and has edited a textbook on deep vein thrombosis. He is a regular reviewer for National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) research projects.

He is the Course Director for many national and International meetings. He was the Regional Director for London and a member of the Court of Examiner at the Royal College of Surgeons of England . He is also an examiner for the Year 3 Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) and Final Year Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the Imperial Medical School.
