About this event

  • Date and time Fri 10 Oct 2025 from 8:30am to 5:00pm
  • Location Royal Society of Medicine
  • Organised by Urology

Antimicrobial resistance and complex infections are rapidly reshaping urological practice. This event brings together leading experts to provide a comprehensive, evidence-based update on the prevention, diagnosis, and management of urological infections. By attending you will gain practical insights into the latest guidelines, research breakthroughs, and innovative technologies transforming infection control in urology.

Through a mix of lectures, interactive case discussions, and multidisciplinary panels, you will explore the dynamic environment of recurrent urinary tract infections (rUTIs), surgical site infections (SSIs), and device-associated infections. The event will also spotlight the challenges posed by multidrug-resistant organisms and emerging pathogens, such as Candida auris, and highlight advances in microbiome science, organoid models, and artificial intelligence.

This meeting is designed to support urology clinicians and allied healthcare professionals in translating research into practice, improving patient outcomes, and demonstrating enhanced infection stewardship within their clinical settings.

Aims and learning outcomes

  • Evaluate and apply up-to-date evidence and guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis, and management of rUTIs and SSIs in urology.
  • Analyze the role of the microbiome and emerging treatments—such as faecal microbiota transplantation and novel antibiotics—in urological infections.
  • Learn practical strategies for infection control and antibiotic stewardship in urological surgery and outpatient settings, including the appropriate use of new technologies and risk mitigation approaches.

Key topics

  • Management of recurrent UTIs and SSIs: prophylaxis, immunomodulation, and intravesical therapies
  • Microbiome and urological infections: clinical implications and emerging treatments
  • Innovations in antibiotic development, biofilm management, organoid models, and AI for infection control
  • Best practices for antibiotic prophylaxis and SSI prevention in urological surgery
  • Clinical dilemmas in UTI management, including special populations and multidrug resistance
  • Ongoing research initiatives and future priorities in UTI research

Book your place now to gain the latest knowledge, practical skills, and expert insights you need to tackle the rise of infections and resistance in urology.
