This famous biannual event will provide state of the art knowledge on endourology, technology, and enable delegates to bestow best and up-to-date practice to their patients. And for the first time this year, you have the option to live stream or attend in-person.

Experts in endourology will give insightful lectures on the evaluation of technology and best dietary and drug therapy in stone disease, bladder outlet obstruction, and upper tract urological cancer (UTUC). The controversies of biopsy in UTUC is now cleared to again enable best practice in this area. 

Topics to be covered include: 

  • The current technology used in endourology in the management of stone disease and their respective evaluation with evidence for patient care.
  • How to provide best practice to stone patients.
  • Evidence-based knowledge of dietary and metabolic advice on stone patients.
  • New technologies to treat symptomatic patients with an enlarged prostate. 
  • Full up-to-date knowledge in UTUC and state of the art management.

Speaker's biography

Dr Joyce Baard completed her medical degree at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. Her main fields of interests are the endourologic treatment of stones and urothelial tumours of lower and upper tract. She is especially focused on the endoscopic management of upper urinary tract urothelial cell carcinoma and new imaging and diagnostic techniques.

Speaker's biography

Dr David S. Goldfarb is a Professor of Medicine and Physiology at New York University (NYU) School of Medicine, Clinical Chief of Nephrology at NYU, Chief of Nephrology at the New York Veterans Affairs Medical Centre and Co-Director of the Kidney Stone Prevention Program at NYU Langone Medical Centre.

 

He graduated from Yale College and Yale School of Medicine and completed his residency training in internal medicine and his nephrology training at NYU/New York Veterans Agency. Dr Goldfarb is the former President of the New York Society of Nephrology and of the Research on Calculus Kinetics Society. He serves as the principal investigator of the cystinuria component of the Rare Kidney Stone Consortium, and as a member of the board of directors of the International Cystinuria Foundation. He is on the editorial boards of Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, Kidney International, Current Opinion in Nephrology and Hypertension and Urolithiasis.

 

He received the Stone Crusher of the Year award in 2014 from the Oxalosis and Hyperoxaluria Foundation and the Nephrologist of the Year award in 2016 from the American Kidney Fund. He has had three calcium oxalate kidney stones, including one extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy.

Kristina Penniston

Dr Kristina Penniston PhD, RDN, FAND

Speaker's biography

Dr Kristina Penniston is a registered dietitian nutritionist at the University Hospital at the University of WisconsinMadison and has been the dietitian in the multidisciplinary UW Health Metabolic Stone Clinic for 22 years.

 

Since 2005 she has also been a research scientist in the Department of Urology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr Penniston’s research has focused broadly on the nutritional management of kidney stone disease, the effectiveness of medical nutrition therapy to reduce stone risk and recurrence, and strategies to improve
clinical management and follow-up of patients with urolithiasis. Her work includes clinical studies and the development of a porcine model of calcium oxalate stone disease, Additionally, she was the primary developer of the Wisconsin Stone Quality of Life questionnaire and the PI of a multi-national consortium of academic urology centres
that study health-related quality of life in patients who form kidney stones. She is a member of the Research on Calculus Kinetics (ROCK) Society and is currently serving a
5-year term as Secretary-Treasurer.

 

Dr Penniston recently received funding from the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Diseases to lead a coordinating
centre for a consortium of research groups in the US studying benign urologic diseases.
