Join this webinar seeking to provide trainees and other non-expert learners with an enhanced understanding and interest in skin ageing and the different skin pathologies that affect patients across their lifetimes.

This unique meeting explores diversity from a new and interesting perspective and highlights important and relevant subject areas, particularly given the ageing population in the UK.

This meeting is running as part of an educational day event coordinated by the RSM Trainees, Dermatology and Geriatrics and Gerontology Sections, to create a rich and varied educational opportunity for a diverse audience.

Participants will be able to:

  • Develop an awareness of skin ageing and the implications for health
  • Develop an awareness of diversity in dermatology from the perspective of different age groups as well as the different challenges and barriers faced

Speaker's biography

Dr Alya Abdul-Wahab graduated from St George’s Hospital in 2004 and underwent specialist training at St John’s Institute of Dermatology in London. She spent 3 years undertaking research in inherited skin disorders culminating in an MD awarded by King’s College London in genetics and molecular medicine and then undertook further sub-specialist fellowship training in Paediatric Dermatology at Guys and St Thomas’ NHS Trust. She works as a Consultant Dermatologist at St George’s NHS Foundation Trust as well as Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton in both adult and paediatric clinics, and is the lead for paediatric dermatology across both sites

Dr Leila Ferguson

Consultant Dermatologist, St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Speaker's biography

Dr Leila Ferguson completed undergraduate training at Cambridge and University College London followed by dermatology specialty training in South London before taking on a substantive consultant post at St George’s. She is part of the biologics team dealing with severe eczema, psoriasis and hidradenitis suppurativa as well as having a strong interest in paediatric dermatology. She re-established a combined clinic with allergy which complements her interest in eczema. She is actively involved in clinical research studies and teaching/trainee supervision.
