About this event
- Date and time Fri 20 May 2022 from 12:15pm to 3:30pm
- Location Royal Opera House
- Organised by Senior Fellows Forum
The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden is the oldest and most prestigious of London’s theatres. First opened in 1732, it has stunning architecture and a unique collection documenting the history of the three theatres that have stood on the site, offering plays, pantomimes, circuses and dance hall as well as the operas and ballets of today.
Recently it underwent a major refurbishment, which few have had a chance to see thanks to lockdown. We have arranged an exclusive guided tour of the building and a private lunch on the covered roof terrace of the Piazza Restaurant, with views over Covent Garden. This will be a brilliant chance to meet up with other Fellows and explore one of London’s iconic theatres, including its state of the art technology. The tour will last one hour and 15 minutes, with a few stops allowing a sit down on the way, although please note that there are long corridors and several stairs. After the tour, we repair for the delicious lunch, including coffee or tea. A menu with options will be sent to those making a booking. The lunch is excellent value but does not include wine or cocktails, although these can be purchased.
Only 20 places are available so do book soon.
Access: all areas of the tour are wheelchair accessible but any disability must be notified in advance to allow appropriate arrangements. Please also notify any dietary requirements when you book.
