Dr Caroline Patterson

Speaker's biography

Caroline Patterson studied at the University of Nottingham. During a 16-year career as a Royal Air Force Medical Officer she completed higher training in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine on the North West Thames Rotation. She was awarded an MD from Imperial College, London. On completion of clinical training, she spent nine months at Duke University, North Carolina, United States, as the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) Travelling Fellow in Lung Transplantation. She maintains an active role in ISHLT, contributing to three recent international consensus statements, leading the lung programme for the 2022 ISHLT Annual Meeting and chairing the Advanced Lung Failure Steering Committee. Caroline was appointed as a Consultant Respiratory and Lung Transplant Physician at Royal Papworth Hospital in 2016.

Speaker's biography

Vicky Gerovasili is a Consultant in Respiratory and Transplant Medicine at Harefield Hospital. She completed her respiratory training in the First Critical Care Department of the University of Athens, Greece. She subsequently trained in Interventional Bronchoscopy in Heidelberg, Germany before moving to the United Kingdom to complete a clinical fellowship in lung transplantation. In 2017 she was appointed a Consultant in Respiratory and Transplant Medicine at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, before moving to Harefield in 2019. Alongside her clinical role she has also taken a leadership role as the National Lung Lead for Organ Utilisation within NHS Blood and Transplant aiming to develop strategies to improve lung donor utilisation.

 

Vicky Gerovasili is also Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London and has consistently been involved in research alongside her clinical work as is evident by her publications in international journals (44 publications, 500 citations in the last 5 years, h-index=16). Her research interest is focused on early mobilisation in ICU, rehabilitation in heart and lung disease, endoscopic lung volume reduction and management of airway complications post lung transplantation as well as reproductive health in cardiothoracic transplantation.

Speaker's biography

Ramsey Hachem, MD is the Tracey C. Marshall – Dr. Elbert P. Trulock Distinguished Professor of Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis.

Dr Hachem is the Medical Director of the Lung Transplant Program at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. His clinical and research interests are focused on chronic lung allograft dysfunction and the role of humoral immunity in lung transplantation. He is dedicated to quality improvement to facilitate clinical care and enhance patient experiences.
