Chronic pain following trauma and surgery is recognised but at the same time is incredibly difficult to manage once it is established. Part 2 of this two-part webinar series will focus on the impact of early post-operative and critical care management of trauma patients. Join us to explore ways to minimise the severity of acute pain as well as the transition to persistent pain states.
You'll hear from internationally renowned speakers on approaches to treat established chronic pain in survivors. Novel techniques will be described but you'll also be given a reflection of the limitations of pharmacology and the need to follow up with patients to treat psychological morbidity at an early stage.
This webinar seeks to teach doctors about opioid sparing strategies for sedation and analgesia for trauma patients, especially in the post-operative period. Discussions will cover the recovery and rehabilitation phases to recognise how to minimise the burden of chronic pain and treat the psychological consequences of trauma.
During this session, you'll be able to:
Update knowledge on sedation and analgesia strategies for the critically unwell and post-operative trauma patients
Become aware of the limitations of medicines alone in the management of long term pain
Be able to describe innovative approaches to chronic pain, including neuromodulation techniques, radiofrequency, Qutenza and botox
Understand how post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) develops and what can be done about it
A CPD certificate with 2 CPD credits will be issued to those joining the webinar live as well as those who watch the recording afterwards. Certificates will be issued 7 days after the webinar to those who watch it live and after 30 days for those that watch the recording.
