This second episode of the Hip Symposium will provide an update on the common hip injuries including acetabular, neck of femur and proximal femoral fractures, with a focus on elderly patients. The key differences between young and older neck of femur fracture patients will be highlighted and the evolution of successful surgical techniques will be presented. The importance of achieving fracture stability will be highlighted and salvage surgical techniques will also be covered. 

The event will be chaired by Michael Pearse, incoming President of the Orthopaedic Section of RSM. Topics will be delivered by single expert speakers with illustrative and interactive case presentations with ample time for audience Q&A.    

During this webinar, you will:

  • Gain an understanding of the influence of age on a patient's prognosis with a neck of femur fracture. 
  • Awareness of the importance of a multi-disciplinary approach in the management of elderly hip fracture patients and the key role of the ortho- geriatrician.  
  • Appreciate the evolution of evidence-based surgical techniques in the management of hip injuries, including the changing role of arthroplasty.
