In this webinar Mr David Barnes and Mr Naguib El-Muttardi, from the world-renowned St Andrew’s Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns, discuss the specialist multidisciplinary management of facial burn injuries. They will present illustrative cases and the session will conclude with questions from the audience.

Speaker's biography

Mr David Barnes is a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with a NHS practice at the St Andrews Centre of Burns and Plastic Surgery, Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford. His training was within the North East Deanery, UK and Subspecialist training has included specialist fellowships in the National Burn centre of New Zealand and a National TIG Cosmetic and Reconstructive fellowship in the UK. Mr Barnes is the Clinical lead for the St Andrews Burns Service. He is an active member of the British Burns Association and has previously held the roles of Chair of the London South East Burn Network and is currently in his second tenure as vice chair of the network. His national roles have seen him sit on the National Burns Standards review committee and the current paediatric specification task and finish group for burns. He represents the Royal College of Surgeons in his role as Surgical Tutor and has been an invited speaker in various aspects of his plastic surgery expertise including burn injury both nationally and abroad.

Speaker's biography

Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, St Andrew’s Centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery, Melanoma and skin cancer lead for Essex. He undertook his plastic surgery training on the Pan-Thames rotation London deanery and has over 10 years experience as a consultant plastic surgeon. He has over fifty publications in various aspects of plastic and reconstructive surgery .His sub-speciality interest is in burns and burn reconstruction, melanoma and skin cancer. Complex reconstruction of the head and neck abdominal wall and perineal reconstruction working with general surgeons at a multidisciplinary team for the complex AWR. He also has interests in body contouring surgery and aesthetic abdominal wall surgery.
