Speaker's biography
Mr David Barnes is a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with a NHS practice at the St Andrews Centre of Burns and Plastic Surgery, Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford. His training was within the North East Deanery, UK and Subspecialist training has included specialist fellowships in the National Burn centre of New Zealand and a National TIG Cosmetic and Reconstructive fellowship in the UK. Mr Barnes is the Clinical lead for the St Andrews Burns Service. He is an active member of the British Burns Association and has previously held the roles of Chair of the London South East Burn Network and is currently in his second tenure as vice chair of the network. His national roles have seen him sit on the National Burns Standards review committee and the current paediatric specification task and finish group for burns. He represents the Royal College of Surgeons in his role as Surgical Tutor and has been an invited speaker in various aspects of his plastic surgery expertise including burn injury both nationally and abroad.
