This meeting at the RCP Edinburgh offers medical students, trainees, fellows and doctors the opportunity to present their clinical, basic science, interventional and translational initiatives and receive recognition for their work and research. 

Successful applicants will be invited to present their work at the Nephrology President’s Prize Day 2021 for consideration of the Stewart Cameron Science Award, Rosemary Baillod Clinical Award, David Oliveira Medical Student Award and Images in Nephrology Award.

The Nephrology Section invites medical students, trainees, fellows and doctors to submit abstracts in fields of clinical nephrology, basic science research, education initiatives, audits and governance, case reports, along with visual images in nephrology.

This event will:   

  • Learn about current basic science and translational research in renal medicine 
  • Present innovative research in the field of nephrology 
  • Value visual representation of the interventional disciplines that underpin nephrology 
  • Provide a forum for nephrologists to discuss their experiences and expertise 

CPD learning applied. 

The President's Prize Day Prizes

The submission deadline for all the prizes is Monday 25 October 2021 and the meeting date is the day of this event. 

Stewart Cameron Science Award - apply here

  • Prize: £200
  • Open to: Any trainees or fellows training in nephrology and wider specialities
  • Application guidelines: The prize is for the best presentation of a research project in clinical or basic science. The abstract should be no more than 300 words, submitted in electronic format and concern a recent or current research project.

Rosemarie Baillod Clinical Award - apply here

  • Prize: £200
  • Open to: Any trainees or fellows training in nephrology and wider specialities
  • Application guidelines: Please submit clinical abstracts in the area of clinical research, case series or individual case histories. Clinical cases or pedigrees should demonstrate novel clinical findings, illustrate classic conditions in new or unusual ways, and illuminate or expand knowledge concerning physiology, cell biology, genetics, radiology, or molecular mechanisms. Abstracts should be no more than 300 words.

David Oliveira Medical Student Award - apply here

  • Prize: £200
  • Open to: Any students in nephrology and wider specialities
  • Application guidelines: Please submit clinical abstracts up to 300 words in the area of clinical research, case series or individual case histories. Clinical cases or pedigrees should demonstrate novel clinical findings, illustrate classic conditions in new or unusual ways, and illuminate or expand knowledge concerning physiology, cell biology, genetics, radiology, or molecular mechanisms.
