Gold and silver from Alexander to Victoria: A 2000-year journey

Experience a journey in time over 3 millennia. Gold and silver coins from the Royal Legions of Alexander the Great, who in 323 BC ruled over the greatest empire known to man, from Greece to India. Visualise Augustus Caeser aka Ocatavius, the first Roman Emperor and successor of Julius Caesar and the stories of Nero the 5th Emperor of Rome.

Do not miss the history of the Genghis Khan, Halagu Khan and the Mongol hordes dreaded as ‘the punishment of god on earth’. Enjoy the romance of the ‘Arabian Nights’ and the Caliphs of Baghdad and Damascus. The ‘House of the Taj Mahal’ is the history of India from the Greeks to the British Raj, including gold and silver from the Mughals who built the Taj Mahal. The world’s greatest story of love, in white marble for eternity to worship.

Two thousand years of history to be witnessed at the Toynbee Room after the afternoon session on the 2nd of November. A personal collection of Prof Shahed Quraishi, President-elect RSM, Laryngology & Rhinology section.
