This popular 2 day course is a must for any primary healthcare professional currently practising minor surgery, or those with an interest in bringing minor surgery to their practice.

During the course trainees and qualified primary care clinicians will learn and demonstrate the skills needed to perform minor skin surgery.

At the end of the course, delegates will be able to take home improved practical skills and be aware of medico-legal and contractual obligations required of those practising minor skin surgery.  Furthermore, having attended the course, delegates will be able to apply evidence based practice in the detection and management of common skin lesions including melanoma. And most importantly they will be able to apply these skills to improve the provision of minor skin surgery in primary care.

  • Minor skin procedures
  • Joint injections
  • Non-surgical techniques 
  • Practical workshops:
    • Workshop A: The shoulder
    • Workshop B: The elbow, ahnd and wrist injections
    • Workshop C: Abscess and subcut sutures
  • Assessment via applied knowledge testing 
  • Assessment via Direct Observation of Practical Skills (DOPS)


NHS England DOPS

This course complies with the new NHS England DOPS requirements for minor surgery training. Delegates will be assessed against Level 2 competencies and certification will be provided at the end of the course.
