Royal Society of Medicine
1 Wimpole Street
President of the Royal Society of Medicine's Technology in Medicine Section, Professor Alan Roberts will be giving this year's Stevens Lecture, entitled 'Bio-materials - an armamentarium in surgical reconstruction, innovations and solutions'.
The use of a diverse range of materials to complement or replace surgical reconstruction is now available for surgery innovations. Developments are often clinically generated from a specific need, based on problem solving using non-biological materials designed and formulated In a laboratory to mimic and replace hard and soft tissue, particularly if there is an absence of the patient's own tissue for reconstruction.
This lecture will focus on how bio-materials play an important part in reconstruction following cancer surgery and subsequent rehabilitation to restore the quality of life.
The RSM’s Stevens Lecture is an annual event and always proves to be an informative evening. The lecture is free to attend and you can also register for the buffet supper that follows the lecture for £25.
