RSM Library

The RSM Library is home to one of the finest medical libraries in Europe. With over half a million volumes dating back to the 15th century, the collection also includes portraits, photographs and manuscripts. Every year up to 1,000 new books are added to the collection and the Library subscribes to over 5,000 current journals covering all aspects of biomedical science.

Joining the RSM Library is not restricted to doctors and medical students; Library membership is open to all.  Members of the public can take advantage of temporary library membership which allows access to the Library collection for reference purposes. The archives are also available to the public, offering a fascinating insight into the history and evolution of the medical profession.

A range of services is available designed to help Library users make the best use of the facilities including photocopying and printing, enquiry and literature searches services.

  • confirm name and address and dated within the last two months, e.g. utilities bill, credit card, bank statement or rent book.
  • confirm name and signature, e.g. driving licence, passport, bankers/credit card.

Please enquire at the Issue Desk on arrival in the Library.
