Professor Philip Bloom is a consultant ophthalmologist at the Western Eye Hospital and Hillingdon Hospital.

He qualified at Bristol University Medical School in 1984 and went on to train at Bristol Eye Hospital, the Western Eye Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital. His expertise lies in minimally invasive cataract surgery, neuroprotection in glaucoma treatments and surgical simulation in teaching and training.

He is a Keeler Scholarship Board trustee at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, a trustee of the International Glaucoma Association, and Honorary Treasurer and council member of the UK & Ireland Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons (UKISCRS). He was also past President of the Royal Society of Medicine Ophthalmology Section.

Professor Bloom is a renowned public speaker, having been an invited speaker at over 40 regional, national and international conferences. He is also actively involved in national teaching and surgical training programmes.
