To qualify for Fellowship

Fellowship is open to those who hold a UK recognised medical, dental or veterinary qualification, or a higher scientific qualification in a healthcare related field.

Fellows must be resident in the UK. This includes the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. Fellows residing in the Republic of Ireland should apply as an Overseas Fellow. If you are not a resident of the UK, you can apply for an Overseas Fellowship.

Young Fellows applies to those medically qualified from FY1 up to St8 job role (or worked for up to 10 years) or those with dental or veterinary first qualification obtained within last 10 years. Young Fellowship is open only to those resident in the UK or Republic of Ireland. For oral surgeons holding both medical and dental degrees, the 10 year period is counted from the later qualification.

Retired Fellows must be either aged over 70 or aged over 60 and fully retired (not earning).

Student Membership is open to those studying medicine, dentistry or veterinary science at an approved UK educational establishment.

To qualify for an Associate Membership

Associate membership open to those who do not qualify for Fellowship but who work within the healthcare sector. If you have been working for more than five years, you will be classed as a Senior Associate.

Retired Associate is open to those who are aged over 70 or aged over 60 and fully retired (not earning) and do not qualify for Fellowship.

Student Associate Membership is open to those who are studying full time for their first undergraduate qualification that does not lead to qualification as a doctor, dentist or vet. Student Associate Members should not be earning any income.

 

Add an optional extra

When joining you have the option to add the following bolt-ons to your membership:

Club membership for your partner

Nominate a spouse, partner or close family member for club membership enabling them to use all the club facilities. £95 per year.

Paper copy of JRSM

Receive a paper copy of Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine in the post each month. £36 per year.

Retired Fellows Society

The RSM’s Retired Fellows Society runs a programme of events exclusively for Retired Fellows and their guests, covering lectures and talks, guided walks around London and photography clubs. £20 per year.

Annual unlimited online CPD subscription

Take out an annual CPD subscription which offers you unlimited online CPD on RSM Videos (normally £12 per credit). £95 per year.
