The Maternity & the Newborn Forum’s purpose is to provide medical education on diverse topics around pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period, and promote discussion to stimulate reflection.

Bursary

Open to
Students, trainees and other professionals who specialise in maternity and/ or surrounding disciplines who are registered in the UK. Please note those who work for commercial operations will not be eligible for the bursary.
Application guidelines
Entrants will need to submit a summary essay of their current research and how the prize money will be spent if awarded (750 words maximum) as well as an up to date CV.
You will be informed of the outcome of your submission by early November and will be invited to present at the Maternity November meeting, date TBC.

This bursary is to honour Luke Zander a founding member of the Forum and an innovator in maternity care. The bursary is to enable healthcare professionals, students and others who are registered in the UK as a student to progress their research in the field of maternity care or care of the newborn.
Maternity & the Newborn Forum: Wendy Savage Bursary
This bursary is to honour Wendy Savage, a long-standing member of the Forum and an innovator in maternity care.
The bursary is to enable Maternity healthcare professionals and students or obstetric students and trainees registered in the UK to attend a conference to present a paper based on their research in the field of maternity care or care of the newborn.
Entrants are invited to submit a paper of no more than 750 words that will be presented at the conference (this can be in draft format). A current CV and a description of the conference, the benefit that this will have to the recipient and a summary of travel costs either in the UK or overseas (of no more than 750 words) should also be attached.
The prize winner will be invited to receive their award at the Maternity & the Newborn Forum meeting on Monday 10th February 2020.
Bursary: One prize of £750 to cover overseas travel or £500 to cover travel within the UK and a year’s membership to the RSM if you are a student or money deducted from the membership fee.
Deadline: Sunday 15 December 2019

Application guidelines
This bursary is to enable the applicant to develop their new media skills which relate to the subject of maternity care or care of the newborn.
Entrants will need to submit the following:
- A description of the innovative way they have communicated/plan to communicate to mothers and fathers on a topic in the field of maternity care and how they will further develop this or their skills with the bursary money
- A summary of how the bursary will be spent
- An up-to-date CV
Entries can take a variety of forms such as a short video, an app, pictures, animations or people telling their stories to communicate the topic.
The bursary winner will be invited to present at the Maternity and the Newborn Forum Section meeting on Saturday 13 June 2020. Please note the successful candidate will be expected to submit a summary of how the bursary was used and a short paragraph on the benefit of winning the bursary to feature in the Maternity and the Newborn Forum enews letter.
