Professor Rae holds several roles at the RSM: she is a Vice-President of the RSM Council, President of the Epidemiology and Public Health Section, and chair of the Education Committee. As a former President of the Faculty of Public Health, she brings nearly 40 years of public health experience and a clear sense of why the Society matters to its members. She becomes President-Elect in October 2026 and takes up the presidency in July 2027.
"I'm honoured to be elected President-Elect of the Royal Society of Medicine. I'm committed to serving our members, listening, supporting professional development, and fostering collaboration, while ensuring strong stewardship for the future. I look forward to building on the excellent work of Professor Gill Leng and the many distinguished Presidents before her." - Professor Maggie Rae CBE, President-Elect
Members also elected three Trustees, all taking up post on 1 October 2026 for a three-year term:
Together with the wider Council, the President and Trustees hold legal and financial responsibility for the RSM, keeping it true to its charitable purpose while helping it stay relevant for future generations of healthcare professionals.
“My thanks go to everyone who put themselves forward in the recent RSM elections - we had a truly impressive set of candidates - and thanks also to all those who voted. Many congratulations to Professor Rae, the new President-Elect, who I look forward to working with over the coming year before she takes up office in July 2027." - Professor Gillian Leng CBE, President of the RSM.
