Mr Deepak Chandrasekharan
With support from the Ellison-Cliffe Travelling Fellowship, Deepak will undertake a paediatric ENT fellowship at SickKids Toronto – a globally renowned centre for both surgical training and pioneering research. During his time there, he will develop advanced skills in the full range of paediatric ENT, including endoscopic ear surgery and implants, airway and head and neck surgery, and anterior skull base procedures. He will also conduct research with Archie’s Cochlear Implant Lab, with a longer-term ambition to establish a research programme contributing to better child health in ENT – a key priority area in the UK.
“There is a pressing need for Surgeon Scientists in Paediatric ENT in the NHS. The support offered by the Fellowship will not only enable me to travel to learn these unique skills in a world-leading centre but then, importantly, learn from former fellows in the alumni network to deliver on this goal of developing a clinical academic programme. I am grateful to the RSM for supporting my training and I am looking forward to paying this forward in the future in the NHS as my training culminates with this Fellowship.”
