About this event

  • Date and time Tue 4 Nov 2025 from 8:30am to 4:30pm
  • Location Royal Society of Medicine
  • Organised by Sleep Medicine

Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) is the most common sleep disorder diagnosed both in the UK and globally. With an estimated 1.5 million people affected in the UK alone -many of whom remain undiagnosed - OSA poses significant health risks including cardiovascular disease, workplace accidents, and increased healthcare utilisation.

This one-day in-person meeting offers a comprehensive update on the latest research into the mechanisms of OSA, featuring insights from nationally renowned sleep experts. Attendees will learn about newer diagnostic sleep tests and their limitations, co-morbid conditions associated with OSA, and modern treatment approaches. Key highlights of the day include a practical breakout workshop designed to help participants manage the sleepy patient effectively, providing valuable real-world strategies to take back into clinical practice.

Why Attend?

  • Gain a complete understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms behind OSA and why patient phenotyping matters
  • Get an update on the latest diagnostic tests, including new technologies and common pitfalls
  • Hear expert opinions on modern OSA treatments and their application
  • Learn how to screen and risk stratify patients based on clinical history and practice tools
  • Benefit from a practical workshop focused on managing sleepy patients efficiently and safely

Aims

  • Demonstrate the pathophysiological mechanisms of OSA and highlight the importance of phenotyping
  • Evaluate the usefulness and limitations of diagnostic and treatment options for OSA
  • Enable participants to screen and risk stratify OSA patients confidently
  • Provide a practical guide for managing sleepy patients in clinical settings

Learning Objectives
