In this webinar we'll look into the impact of lockdown on sleep, and sleep services that are helping patients sleep as lockdown lifts.

Chaired by Kirstie Anderson, President of RSM's Sleep Medicine Section, she will be joined by Dr Martin Allen, Respiratory Physician and Dr David O'Regan, Consultant Psychiatrist to look at sleep problems seen during lockdown.

During this session, you'll be able to:

  • Understand the impact of lockdown on teenage sleep
  • Learn how to safely restart sleep clinics
  • Go through clinical cases

A certificate of attendance and CPD certificate with 1 CPD credit will be issued to those joining the webinar live. Certificates of attendance for CPD will be automatically issued after 7 days, but only where a delegate watches the webinar live in its entirety.

Dr Kirstie Anderson

Speaker's biography

Dr Anderson is the current president of the Sleep Medicine Section of the RSM and works in the paediatric and adult Regional Sleep Service in Newcastle. Research interests include big data, the impact of sleep upon mental health and ageing and she has taught and published across many aspects of sleep and sleep disorders.

Watching her teenage children on lockdown led to this particular talk title but she is happy to acknowledge many other parents may now feel that they are both expert and frustrated in equal measure.  

Dr Martin Allen

Lead in Sleep Services. University Hospitals of North Midlands Stoke

Speaker's biography

Dr Allen's interests are in a variety of respiratory diseases, including COPD, ventilatory support / weaning and sleep medicine. He has fulfilled a variety of management roles within the hospital, previously being CD of cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, ID, GUM and Respiratory medicine; CD of acute medicine and A&E and also head of division.  

Nationally, he sits on the BTS board, chairs the respiratory EWG on coding, and the west midlands respiratory board, and is also a member of the respiratory specialist commissioning group. Since January 2018, he is the GIRFT National Clinical Lead for Respiratory Medicine.
