The RSM is hosting an informative and engaging spotlight webinar that will explore the NHS 10 Year Health Plan for England in detail and the proposed shifts that will shape the NHS, healthcare professionals and patients.

The NHS 10 Year Health Plan for England, published in July 2025, set out how we will create a truly modern health service, designed to react to the rising demand from an ageing population, workforce pressures and long waiting lists [GOV.UK, 30 July 2025]. Therefore, the plan is focused on the three shifts that the government, health service and experts agree need to happen. This includes:

  • Moving care from hospitals to communities - bringing more care into neighbourhoods and homes to reduce reliance on hospitals.

  • Making better use of technology - transforming how the NHS utilises technology.

  • Focusing on preventing and prioritising sickness, not just treatment.

Chaired by Professor Maggie Rae CBE, President of the Epidemiology & Public Health Section at The Royal Society of Medicine, this one-hour session will bring together leading voices in public health, including Professor Tracy Daszkiewicz, President of the Faculty of Public Health and Dr Justin Varney-Bennett, Regional Director of Public Health (South West) in the Department of Health and Social Care. The speakers will offer a range of expert perspectives on what these changes mean for healthcare practices and what can be expected from the changes detailed in the NHS 10 Year Health Plan whilst ensuring their explanations are accessible for audiences across a variety of experience levels.
