Professor Sir Lawrence Freedman, Emeritus Professor of War Studies at King's College London, will discuss the COVID-19 pandemic and consider the extent to which the varied experiences of different countries were the result of strategic choices (and if so which ones) or other factors, such as health systems, luck, social culture or geography.

Speaker's biography

Sir Lawrence Freedman is Emeritus Professor of War Studies at King’s College London. He was Professor of War Studies from 1982 to 2014 and Vice-Principal of the College from 2003 to 2013. He was the Official Historian of the Falkland War and a member of the Chilcot Inquiry into the Iraq War.
