Join us in this in-person event with the restauranteur, TV presenter/broadcaster, cookery writer and novelist Dame Prue Leith. She is also Chancellor of Queen Margaret University and a judge on The Great British Bake Off since 2017. Interviewed by the RSM President-Elect and Dean of Education Professor Gillian Leng CBE, she will talk about empowering people to live (and die) well, her career in restaurants and catering, Bake Off, obesity campaigning, hospital food and choice at the end of life. Enjoy a complimentary drinks reception.

Prue was born in Cape Town, South Africa. In 1960 she moved to London to attend the Cordon Bleu Cookery School, a party and event caterer. In 1969, she opened Leith's, her Michelin-starred restaurant in Notting Hill and later founded Leith's School of Food and Wine, which trains professional chefs and amateur cooks.

Alongside her campaign to improve school and hospital food, Prue has written as a columnist for the Daily Mail, Sunday Express, The Guardian and the Daily Mirror. She has also published twelve cookery books and seven novels. Her memoir, Relish, was published in 2013.

In the 2021 Birthday Honours, she was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to food, broadcasting and charity.

In 2023, Prue appeared in the documentary Prue and Danny's Death Road Trip with her son Danny Kruger MP, which explored the issue of assisted dying.
