Join the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM) History of Medicine Section for this hybrid evening event exploring the history of Guy's Hospital, one of the most influential teaching hospitals in the world, and its lasting impact on clinical practice, medical education and healthcare delivery.
Guy's Hospital has played a central role in shaping modern medicine for nearly three centuries. From the development of formal clinical teaching to pioneering contributions in surgery, nursing, research and medical education, the institution's legacy has influenced standards and practices that continue to shape healthcare systems globally.
This evening examines that legacy through two expert perspectives, connecting the hospital's historical development to contemporary questions about institutional identity, clinical training and the future of teaching hospitals at a time of rapid transformation across the NHS and wider healthcare systems.
