Travel information

Participants are responsible for arranging and funding their own travel. This information is correct at the of publishing please check your local airport schedule for the most up to date information. 

To assist with planning, the local organisers have highlighted the following flight options into Zagreb Airport (ZAG):

London Heathrow – Zagreb – London Heathrow

  • British Airways BA848
    Wednesday 10 June 2026, 08:40 (LHR) – 12:05 (ZAG)
  • British Airways BA849
    Saturday 13 June 2026, 20:45 (ZAG) – 22:15 (LHR)

Many airlines such as British Airways and Ryanair UK fly to the host destination - please check your local airport schedule. Additional flights into Rijeka Airport (RJK) may be suitable for some participants. Rijeka Airport is approximately 35 minutes from Opatija. Transfers from Rijeka Airport are not included and must be arranged independently. Local hosts are able to assist with travel queries.

Transfers

For groups of more than 20 attendees arriving into Zagreb Airport on the dates listed above, the local hosts will arrange and cover the cost of return bus transfers between Zagreb Airport and the hotels in Opatija.

Participants travelling on different flights or dates may request assistance with organising private or shared transfers from Zagreb Airport at reasonable additional cost.

Accommodation

Accommodation is not included in the registration fee. Participants are responsible for booking and paying for their own accommodation.

Two recommended hotels in Opatija have been identified, with anticipated nightly rates (bed and breakfast):

Hotel Agava 4*, Opatija

  • Double room for single occupancy – €148 per night
  • Double room for two persons – €166 per night

Hotel Continental 3*, Opatija

  • Double room for single occupancy – €133 per night
  • Double room for two persons – €149 per night

Participants may choose alternative accommodation if preferred. Guests can book accommodation using this form.

Social programme (additional cost)

An optional social programme has been planned to support networking and cultural exchange. Participation is not included in the registration fee and must be booked and paid for separately.

Planned elements include:

  • Welcome reception on Wednesday evening
  • Conference dinner on Friday evening
  • Excursion, visit and dinner in the Istrian Vineyard
  • Lunch at the Hospital Rijeka
  • Booking deadline: Tuesday 26 May 2026. Places are subject to availability after this date.

Catering (additional cost)

Catering during the scientific programme only cover refreshments, lunch is not included in the registration fee.

Information on catering options, lunch arrangements and any available catering packages will be provided once confirmed.
