NHS England has recently introduced changes in the contract for provision of minor surgery in general practice stating that GPs now require a DOPS (Direct Observation of Practical Skills) assessment to be able to carry out minor surgery procedures.
In consultation with NHS England, RSM Professionals and Medical Skills Courses now offer a new half day course providing DOPS assessment specifically to satisfy most of new contractual requirements. Certificates issued on successful completion of this assessment will be accepted as evidence to carry out minor surgery procedures.
The half day meeting will focus on the assessment of incisions, excision and injection of soft tissues and will cover punch biopsy, local anaesthetic administration and curettage as well.
This course is only for practitioners experienced in minor surgery and is for assessment only. Less experienced practitioners and those who require a refresher should attend the two day Minor surgery course instead.
If you are unable to attend this date please be aware that we are running this event again on Friday 13 February 2015.
