This live stream will examine and provide an understanding of trauma in the context of the maternity journey. This includes traumatic experiences within the maternity journey itself, the impact of historical trauma on the experience of pregnancy, birth and the quality of healthcare received, best practice in trauma-informed care, and psychological experiences of women during their maternity journey.

Experts will highlight how practitioners and systems can better hold in mind trauma experiences, promote improved care and better outcomes for parents and their babies as a result. They will offer their expertise, experience, case studies and insights for consideration.
You will be provided with a theoretical foundation for considering the impact of trauma in the perinatal period, as well as clear ideas for translating trauma-informed care into your own practice.
You will also hear presentations about the impact of newly developed services supporting women who have experienced new or additional trauma within their maternity journey.
During this live stream you will:
- Learn about best practice in trauma-informed care in the perinatal period
- Develop greater insight into the psychological experience of women in their maternity journey who have previously experienced trauma
- Formulate clear ideas on what trauma-informed care is, considerations in offering maternity care, and how you can start improving your practice
