This two day conference is in association with the Anaesthesia Section, Surgery Section, British Society of Clinical and Academic Hypnosis and the British Society of Medical and Dental Hypnosis Scotland.

The conference will showcase experts from a variety of disciplines, including psychology, psychotherapy, anaesthetics, and surgery, presenting on the use of hypnosis and suggestions in their fields.

Delegates will attend lectures and workshops over both days, and gain a range of communicative and transferable skills pertinent to working within these fields.

 

Topics include 

Day one: 

  • Evidence-base for the use of hypnosis and suggestion as an aid in anaesthesia
  • Variety of communication skills, including hypnosis-based interventions with patients during invasive medical  procedures and patients undergoing surgical procedures
  • Value effective communication between healthcare practitioner and patient
  • Key suggestions and techniques for helping patients with their future invasive medical and surgical procedures

Day two:

  • Present theories and concepts of the dynamics of using hypnosis with stress related disorders
  • Creative use of self hypnosis in the treatment of stress for patients and clinicians alike.
  • How hypnosis can be effective in a range of group settings
  • Present the use of hypnosis in a business corporate environment

 

Gala dinner 

A gala dinner will be held after the meeting on day one at 7.30 pm. The evening will start with a drinks reception followed by a three course dinner. Live music will be performed during the dinner.

Non-members: £90 - £220 for two days  (includes a buffet lunch and morning / afternoon refreshments).
