Join us at this evening event for a closer look at the history that binds medicine, dentistry, and science in the 19th Century.

In this second evening session of the programme, two eminent speakers will illustrate the challenges and innovation in medicine, dentistry, and science in the 18th and their continuing impact.

Professor Jenny Gallagher will inform us about Frederick Newland-Pedley and his work in the Boer war and his later philanthropy. Mr. Pankaj Chandak will emphasize the innovation and persistence of Lord Lister which has had such a long term impact on Medicine.

By attending, you will:

  • Become aware of the challenges of practicing medicine and surgery in the 19th century
  • Understand the pioneering nature of Lord Lister and of his long term influence on the practice of medicine and surgery.
  • Become aware of the challenges of medical/dental leadership under wartime conditions of Frederick Newland-Pedley and of the positive impact of his legacy on the RADC and Guy's Hospital
