Holistic and complementary approaches to managing long term pain: Who might benefit?
Holistic and complementary approaches to managing long term pain: Who might benefit?

Friday 25 May 2018, Royal Society of Medicine
1 Wimpole Street
LONDON
W1G 0AE

When managing long-term pain, we work increasingly in multidisciplinary teams (MDT). Together, in the pain clinic, we try to bring understanding and relief to those who come to us with their pain, both physical and emotional.

This day meeting will look to address the following questions:

  • How can acupuncture needles, almost infinite dilutions of substances, or hypnosis be more tolerable and effective than ‘mainstream’ approaches for some people?
  • How do such therapies work and what conditions should be referred?
  • Is it the therapy itself, or could it be the human interaction involved that is so powerful?
