Frequently asked questions

When is the library open?
Monday to Thursday 9am–7pm
Friday 9am–5.30pm
Saturday 10am–4.30pm
Out of Hours Study centre is then open from when the Library closes until 11pm every day, including 10am–11pm on Saturday and Sunday. Please note that once in the centre you can stay on beyond these times.
Can I use the initials FRSM after my name?
No this is not allowed. If you would like a certificate of Fellowship then please ask for this on your application form when you apply.
What is Club Membership?
The Club Membership card is available for the partner or spouse of a Fellows at £60 per year. This allows them to take advantage of all the club facilities without the Fellow being present. Please see the tickbox on the application form.
Who can I bring to the restaurant?
Your personal guests are most welcome. These can be colleagues, friends or family members. Club Membership is available to Fellows’ spouses/partners if they wish to make bookings and come to the RSM without you (see above).
How do I claim tax relief on my subscription?
If completing a self assessment form yourself, include your subscription in section 1.34 of your tax return. If you have an accountant then give them the information about your RSM Membership – and also ask us for a receipt for payment.
Can children stay in Domus?
Yes, babies and well behaved children are welcome and you can book rooms on their behalf.

Kamran Abassi who has been the editor since 2005.
Can I have a tour of the Member facilities before joining?
Yes, we’d be glad to show you around. Please call us on 020 7290 2991 or email membership@rsm.ac.uk to arrange this.
Can I book to stay in Domus or Chandos House for the Olympics?
We’re not yet taking bookings as rates are still to be confirmed. However you can be added to our waiting list if you call/email us with a request. Once we have rates confirmed you will be given first option on the room(s) you require.
How much does it normally cost to join the RSM?
The subscription rates are shown when you use the choose your Membership calculator, or see the table below. In addition to these there is usually a joining fee to pay, the amount varies according to Membership category. We may waive these fees from time to time in certain promotional periods.

Please Note: for methods of payment other than Direct Debit, an administration fee of up to £30 will apply. This does not apply to Overseas Fellows.
