The Royal Society of Medicine has announced that with immediate effect the 28 journals formerly published by RSM Press will be published by SAGE, a world-leading independent academic and professional publisher.
The long-term agreement with SAGE includes the publication of the RSM’s flagship title, the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, one of the most widely read and enjoyed general medical periodicals in the world.
Ian Balmer, Chief Executive of the Royal Society of Medicine, commented: “Our primary concern has been to guarantee the long-term future of the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine and the other journals published by RSM Press. The sale of our journal titles to SAGE and the long-term licensing agreement for JRSM assures future stability during what we know is a time of great change for the publishing industry. SAGE will be in a strong position to provide the investment required to develop JRSM.”
The RSM is licensing three of its most valuable assets to SAGE, its name, crest and JRSM. SAGE will continue to use the RSM name and crest on all the journals, marketing them as RSM Journals.
