Project 2012

Project 2012

The Royal Society of Medicine continues to be a magnet for anyone working or interested in medicine and healthcare. In the last year over 40,000 people attended more than 330 meetings and events at our premises and the Society currently has more than 23,000 members. The expectations of our members and visitors to our building are high and in response, the Society is keen to continue to provide the very best facilities.

Project 2012 is the RSM's latest initiative to provide superb educational resources for the medical and healthcare community. Patients and their carers will also benefit from this substantial investment.

Project 2012 will provide a new 80-seat lecture theatre within the RSM's premises in Wimpole Street, London and will be a national and international resource. New meeting rooms will also be created on the first floor.

Project 2012

The building of the new lecture theatre and meeting rooms follows the creation of a training suite and three seminar rooms, which are already complete and in operation.

Project 2012 is the latest stage in a series of investments the Society has made in the last 10 years, most recently the development of the popular Max Rayne Lecture Theatre with 150 chairs. In the two years running up to the Society's Bicentenary in 2005, over £13 million was spent refurbishing and redeveloping the Library, building the 300 seat auditorium (to be named later this year), refurbishing the former Fellows Common Room - renamed the Toynbee Mackenzie ENT Room - and creating a new Fellows Common Room, now known as the Sir Kirby and Isobel Laing Room. In addition extensive facilities for members have been created in a dedicated space on the ground floor.
