Royal Society of Medicine and British Menopause Society launch Menopause International

As a reflection of its wider readership and growing worldwide acclaim, the Journal of the British Menopause Society will be re-titled as Menopause International with publication of its next issue in March.

Published quarterly by the Royal Society of Medicine, Menopause International remains the official journal of the British Menopause Society. Dr Margaret Rees, a highly regarded and widely published author on menopause, continues as editor.

The name change has been undertaken to recognise the truly international nature of the journal as it is one of the most highly cited sources of news, research and opinion.

"Menopause International has a broad scope and tackles all the issues in this field, including the current controversies surrounding postmenopausal health and an ageing and expanding female population," said Dr Rees.

"The journal is aimed at all those involved in the study and treatment of menopausal conditions across the world."

The first issue of Menopause International will be published in March 2007 and features a guest editorial by Dr Anna Glasier, a leading UK clinician on sexual health, on whether pregnancy in women over 45 should be encouraged.
