PEDro – Physiotherapy Evidence Database
PEDro is produced by the Centre for Evidence-Based Physiotherapy at the George Institute for Global Health in Australia. It’s a free evidence-based database containing bibliographic records of over 24,000 randomised controlled trials, systematic reviews and clinical practice guidelines, all related to physiotherapy. Each entry has been independently assessed for quality using a ratings scale to allow users to quickly determine its validity to guide their clinical practice. PEDro is updated monthly and also provides a link to the full-text of a review, trial or guideline, where available.
The database is user-friendly and allows for simple or advanced searching – depending on individual requirements. It’s very useful for specialists in this particular field, who now have an alternative to conducting numerous different searches on larger, more general databases, such as Medline and Embase.
