The NHS Current Awareness Service for Health (CASH) helps health professionals to keep up-to-date with new developments in patient care to improve decision-making by monitoring and capturing content across 3 broad sectors – Primary Care, Secondary Care and Mental Health – through a network of librarians in England. Information is provided as newsfeeds and current awareness bulletins. There are currently over 30 bulletins on a range of specialist topics. Tabs are available at the top of their web pages to access content on over 20 specialist topic areas such as cardiology, long term conditions and neonatal care. They clearly list the sources they use to gather information on their web site.

 

In January 2012, CASH developed a freely available Netvibes Portal to make it easier for users to access their content without needing to subscribe to it as a newsfeed. From this portal, you can subscribe to a total of 5 daily e-mail alerts for free for both the newsfeeds and specialist bulletins. To manage your subscriptions, you can set-up a free account which allows you, for example, to personalise the title and/or change the format of your e-mail alerts.
