Weekly Jabs

The Library launched a new electronic current awareness service, Weekly Jabs to RSM Members on Thursday 7 January 2010. Be one of the first to subscribe!

Stories in the popular media may influence patient behaviour. Clinical staff can anticipate patient queries and misconceptions by being aware of the coverage of health issues in the popular media, whether clinical or non-clinical. That’s where Weekly Jabs comes in.

Weekly Jabs is compiled by RSM Library staff and is e-mailed every Thursday to subscribers. It highlights a selection of topical health and medical news stories from the last 7 days published in the British popular media – the sources that your patients are reading daily. Web links are provided directly to the news story and to the original research, where possible. Please note that the stories represented in Weekly Jabs are for the purpose of news reporting only and no critical evaluation of their content has been carried out by Library staff.

Have a look at our sample issue to get a flavour of what to expect each week.

The cost of an annual subscription for 51 issues is £50.49 - just 99p per issue! A double issue of Weekly Jabs is published in the first week of January to cover stories reported during the Christmas and New Year period.

Don't worry if you missed the first issue - you can subscribe at any time during the year.
