Weekly Jabs

The Library launched a new electronic current awareness service, Weekly Jabs to RSM Members on Thursday 7 January 2010. Be one of the first to subscribe!

The Library is one of the largest postgraduate biomedical lending libraries in Europe. Our collection exceeds half a million volumes, dates back to the 15th century, and also includes portraits, photographs and manuscripts.

Every year up to 1,000 new books are added to the collection and we subscribe to over 1,300 journals [PDF 100k], including titles from around the world and covering all aspects of biomedical science. Over 90% of our titles are on open access. We also provide members with remote access to over 900 electronic journals [PDF 229k] including the Lancet.

Membership will give you access to a full range of Library services. The Library offers modern study spaces, and private study carrels, with laptop connections throughout.

History of the RSM

Feature of the month - March

Benjamin Robert Wheatley was librarian of the Royal Medical and Chirurgical Society from 1855 to 1884. Born in London in 1819, Wheatley was the eldest son of an auctioneer at 191 Piccadilly. Henry Benjamin Wheatley, his half-brother, was a well-known historian.
