10th Jenner Glycobiology and Medicine Symposium

Saturday 31 March - Tuesday 3 April 2012

Jenner symposiums provide a biennial forum for scientists and clinicians to disseminate the findings of current leading edge research in both novel and classic fields of glycobiology.

This important meeting is intended for scientists and clinicians of all levels and all disciplines involved in the research and management of human disease.

With the enormous development of glycobiology and medicine in recent years we are expecting to attract 100-150 delegates and believe this will be yet another very successful meeting in the Jenner series; dating from 1990.

The objectives of the symposium are:

  • To advance our understanding of the impact of glycosylation to all areas of medicine
  • To promote new research activities by bringing together scientists and clinicians from different disciplines
  • To encourage more young scientists to participate and take up research in this area
  • To encourage closer networking between academia and commerce

The topics to be covered include:

  • Glycobiology of innate and acquired immunity
  • Glycosylation and human disease
  • Glycobiology of infectious disease
  • Glycobiology of cancer
  • Challenges in Glycobiology: Diagnosis and treatment

Cutting Edge Lecture:

  • Prof. Dr. Maria Yazdanbakhsh; LUMC, Leiden, NL

Plenary lectures will be given by:

  • Prof. Dr. Linda Baum; UCLA School of Medicine, USA
  • Prof. Dr. Daan van Aalten; University of Dundee, UK
  • Prof. Dr. Yvette van Kooyk; VUMC, Amsterdam, NL
  • Prof. Dr. Pauline Rudd; Dublin, Ireland
