The MSF Scientific Day
The Scientific Day will be held again at the Royal Society of Medicine on May 25th 2012 and we hope to see you there. The operational research presented at the Scientific Day’s plenary and poster sessions has the potential to improve the effectiveness of humanitarian assistance. Only through critical analysis and debate between MSF, other NGOs, and academic institutions can we continue to improve the quality of care that MSF delivers in the field.

Global Health Partnerships: Nurses and Midwives making a difference
This one day conference and workshop will highlight the vital role UK nurses and midwives play in health partnerships that improve healthcare for some of the world's poorest people.
Speakers will include nurses and midwives who are involved with health partnership work overseas and the day will equip participants with networks, information and guidance about getting involved.

Participants will receive a certificate confirming attendance.

National Conference on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)
This national, three stranded conference is being organised and hosted by young people with the support of professionals, medical students and the charity Integrate Bristol.

The three strands of the conference are as follows:

1- Medical: Targeted at health professionals including doctors, midwives, nurses and medical students. Topics covered will encompass the definition and identification of FGM, Complications, Treatment strategies and Medico-legal responsibilities including child protection issues. The programme includes lectures as well as case discussions delivered by high profile speakers.

2- Professional: Targeted at professionals including teachers, child protection officers, policy makers and police.

3- Young people

Delegates will receive attendance certificates as well as supplementary literature.
The conference is free to attend. Booking will be open between 20th May and 11 July.
