Why we need your support
- The Royal Society of Medicine is the only organisation that brings together the increasing number of disciplines that make up modern medicine and healthcare – thus helping doctors as well as patients.
- We are one of the largest providers of continuing medical education in the UK. We also provide accredited courses for continuing professional development, which is so vital in allowing doctors, dentists, veterinary surgeons and other healthcare professionals their continuing freedom to practise.
- In order to fulfil our unique role, we need to develop and maintain world-class conference and meeting facilities, supported by state-of-the-art technology.
- We urgently need to relieve the pressure on our current facilities, which is becoming greater by the day.
- Our library houses one of the largest and most important collections of medical learning in the world. We must continue to provide ever greater access to this material for doctors, students, patients and researchers. It is a resource which must be preserved for future generations.
- All of our work is aimed at improving medical understanding and practice for the benefit of patients and the public at large.
- We play an important role in bringing together the general public and the medical and healthcare professions.
- The Royal Society of Medicine is an independent, non-political organisation. We receive no state funding to carry out our core work and are dependent on generous donations and legacies.
